چکیده

This study evaluated the bioactive effects of Melaleuca alternifolia essential oil on behavior and mortality Ascia monuste orseis caterpillars. The experiment was conducted at laboratory under controlled conditions using a completely randomized design with six treatments, represented by A. caterpillars fed collard leaves treated 0 (control), 5, 10, 20, 30, or 40 mg mL−1 oil. Each treatment consisted five replicates four third-instar Mean daily intake leaves, feces production, mortality, behavioral changes were assessed for 15 days after beginning experiment. Data leaf production subjected to analysis variance F-test; when significant differences found, data regression analysis. Corrected rate calculated F-test followed Tukey’s test 5% significance level comparison means. median lethal dose (LD50) also evaluated. Two very clear feeding behaviors observed, one in exposed concentrations 20 mL−1, which showed little difference feed from control, other highest (30 mL−1), decrease 76 93% compared control. Lower resulted negative increased linearly concentration. curve linear positive response concentration, reaching 100% insects concentrations. LD50 13.93 mL−1.

Insecticidal Activity of Melaleuca alternifolia Essential Oil and RNA-Seq Analysis of Sitophilus zeamais Transcriptome in Response to Oil Fumigation

BACKGROUND The cereal weevil, Sitophilus zeamais is one of the most destructive pests of stored cereals worldwide. Frequent use of fumigants for managing stored-product insects has led to the development of resistance in insects. Essential oils from aromatic plants including the tea oil plant, Melaleuca alternifolia may provide environmentally friendly alternatives to currently used pest contro...

Melaleuca (Melaleuca alternifolia) essential oil demonstrates tissue-remodeling and metabolism-modulating activities in human skin cells

Melaleuca (Melaleuca alternifolia) essential oil (MEO), commonly known as tea tree oil, is popularly used in skincare products. In the current study, we investigated the biological activity of a commercially available MEO (with terpinen-4-ol as the major active component) in pre-inflamed human dermal fibroblasts, which were designed to simulate chronic inflammation. We analyzed the levels of se...

How feeding on young and old leaves affects the performance of Ascia monuste orseis (Godart) (Lepidoptera, Pieridae)

How feeding on young and old leaves affects the performance of Ascia monuste orseis (Godart) (Lepidoptera, Pieridae). In the field, immature individuals of Ascia monuste orseis (Godart), the kale caterpillars, migrate in great proportion to other regions of the host in order to complete their development; there, they find leaves of different ages and are exposed to the nutritional variation of ...

Activity of Tea Tree (Melaleuca alternifolia) Essential Oil against L3 Larvae of Anisakis simplex

Nematicidal activity of Melaleuca alternifolia essential oil, commonly known as tea tree oil (TTO), was assayed in vitro against L3 larvae of Anisakis simplex. The results showed a mortality of 100% for concentrations between 7 and 10 μL/mL after 48 h of incubation, obtaining an LD50 value of 4.53 μL/mL after 24 hours and 4.27 μL/mL after 48 hours. Concentration-dependent inhibition of acetylch...
